Ending bin bag use in the city

The new waste management and street cleaning measures announced by DCC this month sound promising. After years of inaction we welcome movement on addressing this problem. And it is great to see progress while our 2024 seagull calendar is still current!

While the commitment to end bin bag use for commercial customers in the city centre is clear the plans for residential customers inside the canal are more vague. We looking forward to hearing more details, however we welcome the new funding and staffing behind the switch away from flimsy plastic bin bags and for enhanced street cleaning.

We will be following up with DCC officials and local councillors once the alternatives being moved to by commercial customers emerge. And we are hoping we won't need a 2025 calendar edition now!
